Dynamic Calibration

DYNAMIC Calibration

FAMILY-OWNED & OPERATED

What is Dynamic Calibration?

Dynamic calibration is many times referred to as on-road calibration due to the majority of the process being done while the vehicle is being driven. Using our diagnostic tool, we will first in-shop determine which of the ADAS features are in need of calibration. Once the diagnostic is complete, depending on which feature is in need of calibration, typically any that utilizes a camera, our team at Omni Calibration will set the vehicle in calibration mode and take it on the road. In this case, it is very important that it is done with optimal weather conditions and specified distance and speed by the vehicles manufacturer.

How Do You Know If Your Car Needs ADAS Calibration?

As vehicles become more technologically advanced, so do the systems that they rely on. One such system is called ADAS, or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. This system uses sensors and cameras to provide driver assistance, such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, and automated braking.

If this system is not functioning properly, it can put you and other drivers at risk. That’s why it’s important to know how to tell if your vehicle needs ADAS calibration.

If you suspect that your ADAS system may need to be calibrated, there are a few things you can look for:

  1. Your vehicle is pulling to one side - If your vehicle starts to veer to one side, it may be due to an issue with the ADAS sensors. When the sensors are misaligned, they may not be able to accurately detect the position of the vehicle on the road. This can cause the vehicle to pull to one side.
  2. The ADAS features are not working properly - If you notice that the ADAS features in your vehicle are not working properly, it is likely due to sensor misalignment. For example, if the automatic braking system is not working properly, it may be because the sensors are not able to accurately detect the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.
  3. You have recently had work done on your vehicle - If you have recently had work done on your vehicle, such as a tire rotation or a wheel alignment, it is possible that the ADAS sensors have become misaligned. This is because these types of services can cause the sensors to move out of position.

If you notice any of these signs, it is important to take your vehicle to a professional for ADAS calibration. At a calibration facility, the technicians will use special equipment to realign the sensors. This process is important to ensure that the ADAS system is working properly and that your vehicle is safe to drive.

How Long Does Dynamic ADAS Calibration Takes?

If you're wondering how long Dynamic ADAS calibration takes, the answer may surprise you. Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, the process can take as little as 5 minutes or as long as 30 minutes.

Keep in mind, though, that this process is often done in conjunction with other maintenance tasks like tire rotation or an oil change. So, if you're getting your car serviced, the total time for all the work being done could be longer.

To ensure that your car's driver assistance systems are functioning properly, it's important to have them calibrated on a regular basis. How often you need to have the calibration done will depend on your car's make and model, as well as how often you use the driver assistance features.

How Much Does Dynamic Calibration Cost?

The cost of dynamic calibration can vary depending on the type of equipment being calibrated and the complexity of the calibration process. Generally, the cost of dynamic calibration is higher than the cost of static calibration.

Dynamic calibration is typically performed by specialized calibration services providers. The cost of the calibration service will depend on the provider's experience and expertise.
